Looking Out for Number One
When you look out for only yourself...it earns you nothing. You lose things like friends and family, the things you need the most out of everything. Scrooge is a perfect example of this. He put himself before everyone. He never gave to the poor, he never conversed with someone without making the other person want to cry, he never cared about anyone but himself! So now he is a person who lives alone, in the dark, with no friends or acquaintances to speak of. Putting yourself first does nothing for you. Because of that, I do not believe that putting yourself first is a good idea.

Journal Entry of Ebenezer Scrooge
My nephew came in and said "Merry Christmas" to me today. I can barely right the words for all the disgust it brings to me! What is the point of "Christmas"? It is a dastardly holiday that only appears in my worst nightmare. Whoever came up with this "holiday" should be stabbed in the heart with holly, as i told my nephew. And yet he is still happy! To be related to him is a disgrace. To make his shame even more pronounced, he invited me to his and his wife's Christmas dinner! I refused of course. All it would hold is merry people and presents and the like...Ugh! i can't stand it!
